MILWAUKEE — Fueled by her own story of sobriety, Tahira Malik decided to open Samad’s House in 2020.
What began as one sober living facility for women in Milwaukee quickly grew.
The nonprofit now has three sober living facilities: one for women, one for families and a behavioral health clinic. For Malik, it was a proud moment.
“There’s no way that I would know it would grow into something so magnificent, so impactful, so powerful,” Malik said.
Having overcome addiction and incarceration herself, Malik walks the path of sobriety every day. She’s now using her own experience to help dozens of women with similar stories in Milwaukee County.
